Where I’ve Been – Life Update
I’m back, I’m back and I’m sorry. I know, I dropped off the face of the blogging world for the last couple of months but my life has been hectic. I thought I’d do a little life update post before I return to business-as-usual. If you’re feeling nosy and want to know where and why I’ve been hiding, this is for you.
When I say my life has been hectic, I’m not kidding at all. A handful of pretty major life events all happened to me in the space of a couple of months and it was rather overwhelming. I’ll recount them in chronological order…
The main reason that I stopped blogging in the first place was my final semester university exams. As I was graduating this semester, it was completely essential that I did well in everything. It didn’t help at all that I was taking some really difficult courses and there was some moments where I began to doubt that I would actually pass them. I have never worked so hard for a set of exams in my life. I had a couple of emotional breakdowns and my hands were in cruciating pain when I left my last (and hardest) exam but, I did it. I passed with flying colours.
A couple of days after finishing my last exam I had to pack up my entire life because it was time to move in with my boyfriend. I was over the moon that this day had finally come but packing and moving the contents of your life pretty much single-handedly is a lot to handle. Of course, once you’ve moved, you then have to unpack and we had to take a trip to Ikea to furnish our entire house and then build all the furniture too. We’ve lived here for 7 weeks now and it’s only just been finished (we built the last ikea item last night), but I’m really happy here.
By some total miracle, one day after my last exam, I got called in for a job interview and a week later I was offered the job. I’m working as a Content Marketing Intern at a Digital Marketing Agency, here in Montreal and I’m over the moon. I love the company that I work for, the work environment (the office is dog friendly) and I love my boss and team even more. I felt like I didn’t have enough experience to go right into the workplace so being able to do this internship for 4 months first, to ease me in gently, is perfect. I’m also doing quite a lot of work with WordPress, blog post writing and SEO practices which is great for my blog.
On the 7th of June, almost 2 weeks ago now, wow. I officially graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology. My family and friends came all the way to Montreal to celebrate with me and it was a really special and emotional day. I can’t quite believe that it’s been 3 years since I landed in this city and I’m so proud of all that I’ve achieved since then. My life is almost unrecognizable now, so much has changed and I have grown so much. Im so incredibly grateful for this opportunity and all that it has given me, including the most wonderful angel that I get to share my life with. I’m even more grateful to the people that supported me (my parents) physically, emotionally and financially and made it possible for me to get my degree from McGill. It’s a really bittersweet occasion. I’m so proud of myself and excited to be done, but I’m also very scared for the future and even more confused about what I want to do now. All I can say for now is: watch this space.
That’s everything that’s been going on. Thank goodness because I’m not sure how much more I could handle. One great thing is that I feel like I now have so much material for blog posts. I’ll definitely be posting about my graduation outfit, maybe some office appropriate outfit inspiration and some furnishing and moving tips. If there’s anything in particular that you want to see don’t hesitate to let me know in the comments (if you want a look around our new apartment, etc.). Im sorry again for disappearing, thanks for sticking with me.
