Please Me actually didn’t photograph as well as the other lipsticks in this post did. In this picture and the swatch below Please Me looks like quite a bright pink but in real life that’s not the case at all. Please Me is actually a dusty, salmon pink colour, very pretty but also very non-offensive. For the longest time Please Me was my go-to, everyday lipstick. I wear it a little less now just because I’m now more into nudes than pinks but it’s still undoubtedly one of my favourite lipsticks that I have ever owned. *https://api.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=535417835&pid=uid161-36446631-82
Diva was the only colour I wore during the winters when I was 17 and 18. It is a maroon/dark berry red. I wear it less nowadays because I feel bad kissing my boyfriend when I’m wearing such a bold lip colour but every winter or when I want something particularly glam I will grab this. What I love about this lipstick in particular is how you can build it up into a very dark maroon (almost black) or you can just wear a thin layer of it for more of a berry red. I think the matte finish is great for a colour like this because you don’t want it to move easily. It’s also not uncomfortable to wear all day despite it being matte. Another MAC lipstick a similar colour to this one is Sin, I have that one too and I wear it a lot. *https://api.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=535417835&pid=uid161-36446631-82
Twig is absolutely the colour that took me from being a bold lip kinda girl to a nude lip kinda girl. Recommended to my by my best-friend Emma, Twig is a dark nude and the only Satin Finish in my top 5. I like the satin finish because its less drying than the matte finishes and so it’s more comfortable to wear for long periods of time. However, that does mean that it lasts for less time. The swatch below doesn’t do it justice but I would describe the colour as ‘ your lips but better’, its perfect if you don’t want a bold lip or you’re looking for something more subtle and sophisticated (perfect for an interview, etc.). I also love it because its definitely a colour you can just throw on without a mirror and go, unlike Diva or Ruby Woo. *https://api.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=536630153&pid=uid161-36446631-82
Ruby Woo is a cult-classic and for good reason. I’m pretty sure this is even Taylor Swift’s go-to red lipstick. This colour is the perfect red – it’s not too orange, not too pink, its literally just red. It’s also the most perfect matte. As you can see below a couple of the matte shades still have a little sheen to them but this one doesn’t. It looks like velvet on the lips. This lipstick is so pigmented (you only need one layer), not drying and also one of those reds that would look great on any skin tone. I feel like everyone owns this lipstick but if you don’t, I couldn’t recommend this one enough. *https://api.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=535417835&pid=uid161-36446631-82
Velvet Teddy is another cult-classic. This was like gold-dust for the longest time, you literally could not find it anywhere. I will admit that I was a little late to the party on this one, this was my most recent MAC lipstick purchase but I love it none the less. I wear this lipstick almost every day at the moment. I really like it alone and matte but I’ve also been enjoying wearing it under nude lip glosses just to give them a little extra pigment. In my eyes velvet teddy is the perfect nude and I completely understand the hype. *https://api.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=535417835&pid=uid161-36446631-82
I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed making it. I’ll be back with more soon!
